Comprehensive Ten-week Course in Woodworking

This course is designed for serious students who want to explore woodworking and furniture construction. We'll cover the study of wood; learning to draw and read plans; the care, use and sharpening of hand tools; and the safe use and maintenance of machine tools. Students will also learn joinery, project design, wood turning, veneering, and wood bending through a series of lessons and individual projects.

Wood Turning for Beginners

This one-day seminar provides hands-on instruction in basic spindle turning. You'll learn the fundamentals of tool selection, sharpening, and turning between centers. Do you own your own lathe tools? Bring them to class, and take them home properly sharpened!



Router Workshop

Dates: January 17

Alan will help you learn to get the most out of your router. You'll learn about how to select a router, router tables, partial and full edge shaping, decorative and plain edging, dado and rabbet cuts, picture frame moldings, dovetails, etc. He'll also discuss jigs, guides, and templates.



Wood Turning

Dates: January 29

An introductory class for beginning and intermediate wood turners. Marcel will spend time on both spindle turning and bowl turning. He will cover tool selection, sharpening, tool use and control, mounting methods, and finishing techniques. You will work on a variety of projects, and we will provide practice materials.



Table Saw Techniques

Demonstrations and discussions on how to select a table saw and operate it safely. : Instruction will include basic cutting methods, making raised panels and joints and more. Learn about jigs and fixtures you can build yourself.



Hands-on Router Class

Dates: February 7

Prerequisite: router workshop

Bring your own router or use one of ours. This class is designed to help you get familiar with a router's parts, setup and use. We'll do a number of exercises and projects, and you will learn edge routing, inside and outside profiling, various methods of holding your workpiece and how to use a router table. Space is limited!



Turning a 2 piece Hollow Vessel

Dates: February 7

Learn to turn hollow, bottle shaped, vessels using chucks to hold the wood on the lathe, and hollowing tools and techniques to hollow it out. These new, challenging skills will open up all sorts of different and exciting projects for you . Be creative and artful as you make another 'masterpiece' on the lathe!



Picture Framing - Mat Cutting

Dates: February 13 & 14

Day(s): Friday & Saturday

Time(s): 7 pm - 9:30pm & 9 am - Noon

Instructor: Alan Mitchell

In this two-part workshop, Alan will teach you basic picture frame construction, including moldings, mat board, mounting, finishing, and hanging. You will construct a picture frame in class.
